Working as bartenders in some of Brisbane's best bars and restaurants, our lifestyle constantly exposed us to changes in our circadian rhythm due to excessive artificial light, completely affecting our energy levels due to poor quality rest and sleep.

We are Javi and Mario, two friends who meet not long ago while working in Brisbane, Australia. From the very beginning, we built a strong connection because we both share the same goals in life and believe that the best way to achieve them is through healthy habits.

We knew that an essential part of a better life is proper rest, and we were both struggling with it. This led us to start researching sleep and recovery. We discovered that high-quality sleep plays a crucial role in truly restorative rest.

As fans of high-performance athletes and sports, we began to notice a common pattern among many of them: the majority were wearing blue-light-blocking glasses to protect themselves from exposure to disruptive artificial light. This type of light can cause eye fatigue, poor sleep, inadequate rest, increased stress, higher anxiety levels, and more.

That’s when we started working on our brand concept—to bring Aussies a better quality of life. Because better rest doesn’t start in bed; it starts with better light.

At zZen™, we created a brand designed to be worn anytime, not just while sitting in front of a computer at home or in the office. Our variety of lenses makes zZen™ a fashionable and practical solution for everyone, as harmful blue and green artificial light is virtually everywhere today.
